Operated by Maut & Vignette B.V. — selling the Hungary e-Matrica since 2018 and helping drivers navigate European toll roads since 2014. Over 100,000 vignettes sold. Rated 4.9/5 on Trustpilot.
Maut & Vignette B.V. started in 2014 with a single physical product: the green Umweltplakette sticker for German low-emission zones. Back then, there was nothing automated about our business. We bought the stickers in bulk, packed them ourselves, and mailed them out to drivers across Europe. Thousands of envelopes, filled by hand, one by one.
It was simple and a bit scrappy, but it worked.
From that one product, things slowly grew. We added more countries, more products, and eventually stepped into the world of digital tolling. In 2018, we introduced the Hungarian e-Matrica to our offering, at a time when the system was already fully digital.
As more countries moved away from physical stickers, we adapted too. No more envelopes. No more waiting days for delivery. Just fast, digital processing and instant confirmation by email.
That said, not everything has gone digital. Some products, like the German environmental sticker, are still sent the old-fashioned way.
In 2022, we brought everything together. What started under Moonshots Online Marketing back in 2014 was consolidated into a new company: Maut & Vignette B.V., based in the Netherlands.
Evignettehungary.com was launched as part of that consolidation, building on several years of experience with the Hungarian vignette system. Throughout it all, our mission stayed the same: make buying a vignette as simple, clear, and stress-free as possible—no matter where you’re travelling from.
Fast forward to today, and we’ve grown into a team of 50+ people, working across tolling platforms in more than 15 European countries. We’ve processed over 100,000 orders, but our approach stays the same: keep it simple, make it reliable, and always support drivers in their own language.
We’ve crossed Austrian mountain passes, driven French autoroutes, and most recently, explored nearly every Czech motorway and major border crossing. When we write a guide or answer your question, we speak from firsthand experience, because we’ve been there.
We don't just sell the e-Matrica for Hungary—we actually get behind the wheel and test the roads ourselves. In early 2026, our team drove across the Hungarian motorway network to see how things work in real life, not just on paper.
On the M1 approaching Hegyeshalom (right after the Austrian border), we saw KSZR enforcement gantries scanning vehicles within the first 200 metres. There were no kiosks, no stops, and no way to buy a vignette on the spot. If you didn’t already have one, you were already at risk.
We continued across multiple routes:
M85 toward Sopron — a quieter western corridor where traffic is lighter but the licence plate-based enforcement system applies from the very first toll section
M5 south toward the Serbian border at Röszke — we spotted active camera enforcement regardless of traffic volume
M43 connecting to the Romanian crossing at Nagylak (Csanádpalota) — we documented KSZR gantry positions, checked kiosk and petrol station availability near the border, and noted active camera enforcement
M44 expressway from Békéscsaba toward the M5 — we found no fuel stations on the road itself, something many drivers wouldn’t expect
M15 toward the Rajka crossing (Slovakia) — fully open Schengen crossing, no permanent checkpoint, but clear overhead toll control signage
The takeaway? Enforcement is consistent, automated, and starts immediately—whether the road is busy or not. These details matter to drivers. Everything we publish is based on real journeys, real observations, and real-world conditions—not just desk research or Google Maps assumptions.
