Hungary's e-Matrica system has been 100% digital since 2008, so there’s no physical sticker to display. Your licence plate is registered in the national toll database and checked automatically by KSZR cameras along the road as you drive.

If you’re riding a motorcycle or moped, make sure you select the D1M vehicle category. It has its own reduced-rate vignette.

Enter Your Details
Next, you’ll enter the key details needed to register your e-Matrica vignette correctly. We need your licence plate number, the country where your vehicle is registered, and your vehicle category: D1 (car), D1M (motorcycle or moped), D2 (van or minibus), or U (trailer — requires its own e-Matrica in addition to the towing vehicle).
Licence Plate & Vehicle Category
We support all vehicle registration formats—EU and non-EU plates alike. Just enter your licence plate exactly as it appears on the vehicle, including any country prefix if applicable. This is particularly important for vehicles registered in Ukraine, Serbia, and Turkey, where formats can differ.
Email Double-Verification
You'll be asked to enter your email address twice. It’s a small step but it helps avoid typos and ensures your e-Matrica confirmation email and PDF are delivered quickly and without issues.
Check everything carefully
This part matters more than you’d expect. Your licence plate number and vehicle category must be entered correctly. Corrections are possible before activation (full change to plate, country, and vehicle category). However, after activation, changes are no longer possible.

Before you finalise your purchase, you’ll see a full summary of your order. Take a moment to double-check: vignette type and sub-type (especially important if you selected an Annual option), start date, licence plate number, vehicle category, and email address.

What If You Make a Mistake?
Typos happen. Here’s what you can do:
Before your e-Matrica becomes active:
You can still fix things. Licence plate number, country of registration, and vehicle category can all be corrected. Contact us as soon as possible via our Help Centre and we’ll guide you through it.
After your e-Matrica becomes active:
At this point, changes are no longer possible. You’ll need to buy a new Hungarian vignette. If you're unsure what applies to your situation, get in touch with our support team. We usually respond within 10 minutes and will walk you through your options.
We Drive These Roads Ourselves
During one of our research drives on the M1 Vienna–Budapest corridor approaching Hegyeshalom, we saw KSZR gantries scanning every vehicle within the first 200 metres of entering the Hungarian motorway.
